DPIIT Recognition is an official acknowledgment from the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade. It transforms a standard registered company into a recognized "Startup," making it eligible for government support, tax holidays, and simplified legal compliance.

Income Tax Exemption
A trademark is a unique intellectual property asset—comprising words, phrases, symbols, or designs—that identifies the source of goods or services and distinguishes them from competitors. Under the Trade Marks Act, 1999, even non-conventional identifiers like shapes, sounds, and color combinations can be protected if they are graphically representable.

Note: Sole Proprietorships and Unregistered Partnership Firms remain ineligible. The business must be a fresh venture, not a "split-off" or "reconstruction" of an old one. The business seeking Startup registration must not be a subsidiary or holding company.

PAN Card of the Company / LLP / Firm.

Founder Details
Aadhaar and PAN of Directors / Partners.
Innovation Pitch
A brief write-up (200–400 words) or Pitch Deck explaining the innovative nature of the business.
Supportive Evidence
Website link, video demo, or prototype images (Proof of Concept).
For Organization DSC
Board Resolution, Authority Letter from company & Certificate of Incorporation along with all documents as specified above.
Who is not eligible for Startup India Recognition?
Protection does not end at the certificate. Taxocity provides comprehensive lifecycle management:
Ineligible Business Structures
- •Sole Proprietorships.
- •Firms Foreign Entities.
- •Trusts and Societies: (Except for the newly eligible - Cooperative Societies).
- •Unregistered Partnership.
- •The business seeking Startup registration must not be a subsidiary or holding company.
Companies Beyond the Age Limit
- •Standard Startups: Businesses older than 10 years from their date of incorporation.
- •Deep Tech Startups: Research-heavy ventures older than 20 years.
Companies Exceeding Turnover Limits
- •Regular Startups: Annual turnover has exceeded ₹200 crore(previously ₹100 crore) in any financial year.
- •Deep Tech Startups: Annual turnover has exceeded ₹300 crore.
Registration Process
Here is how the DPIIT recognition process works on the NSWS portal, broken down into clear, trackable steps:
Step 1: NSWS Portal Registration
Create an account on the National Single Window System (nsws.gov.in).
Step 2: Organization DSC
To complete the profile and submit forms, your organisation must have an active Class-III DSC.
Step 3: Add Form
Navigate to "Central Approvals" and add the form "Registration as a Startup".
Step 4: Fill Details
Enter industry, sector, and clearly describe the specific problem your startup solves.
Step 5: Upload & Declare
Upload your CoI, Innovation Pitch, and other supporting documents, then sign the self-declaration regarding turnover and age.
Step 6: IMB Review
The Inter-Ministerial Board reviews the innovation aspect and supporting material.
Step 7: Certification
Once approved, your DPIIT Certificate is available for download on your NSWS dashboard (typically within 7–15 days).
